Bhimtal Lake is one of the most famous lakes in all of India and will be the first stop on our one day Bhimtal tour. There is an island at the center of the lake which has been transformed into an aquarium. The island also houses a temple.

Bhimtal Lake is the largest lake in the Kumaon region. The lake is also responsible for supplying drinking water and supporting aquaculture in the area. Hanuman Garhi Temple is one of the most visited attractions of Bhimtal. The temple has been built to honor Lord Hanuman and is located at the height of 6,401 feet above sea level.

The temple was constructed under the patronage of the revered saint, Baba Neem Karoli. The temple opened its gates to devotees in 1950. The most striking relic in the temple is an image of Lord Hanuman ripping open his chest to reveal the image of Lord Rama and Sita residing in his heart. Standing adjacent to the temple stands a massive statue of Lord Hanuman, with a beautiful golden umbrella sheltering him.
