The Name of the place carries significance as Banke stands for ‘bent at three places’ and Bihari stands for ‘ supreme enjoyer’. This is witnessed in the idol of Krishna established in Tribhanga posture; bent at hand, bent at waist and bent at leg.

This Particular idol embodies sense of liberation and joyousness infusing the same into devotees. Originally, he was worshipped as ‘Kunj Bihari’ i.e. enjoyer of lakes. You can see a reversal of equation in worshipping of deity as the apotheosized Lord Krishna is humanized and treated with much reverence.

This Temple is cloaked in enigma of existence of Krishna, you will observe the absence of conches and bells as they pujaris believe that Lord isn’t fond of loud sound. Sewa is performed in three parts; shringar, rajbhog and shayan.

This Temple is famous for its extravagant sculpting and serenity and a special attraction of our Mathura & Vrindavan same day tour. ISKCON Temple stands on the banks of river Yamuna where Krishna and Balram used to graze their cows. Prabhupada who laid the foundation stone of the shrine is tributed by laying of his samadhi as a part of temple and the principal deity Krishna and Balram adorn the main entrance.

In the Temple, three altars are incorporated, seats of Sri Sri Gaura Nitai, Shri Krishna and Balram and Sri Sri Radha Shyamsundaram along with Lalita Vishakha.

This Temple is the nexus of folklore revolving around Krishna’s birth as this built around the prison cell where he is said to be born. It is situated near Keshava Deo Temple also known as Keshav Dev Temple, it is also revered as birthplace of Krishna. The Keshav deity i.e. the original deity of Krishna is said to be installed by his great grandson Bajranbh.

This Temple was built by King Vajra and was later rebuilt by King Vikramaditya. It is said that the temple was destroyed and built seventeen times. It is one of the most frequently visited temples in Mathura.

The Potra Kund, temple tank is also bearer of a story. It is believed that Krishna’s mother Devaki use to wash his clothes in this kund, thus reason behind its name. You can also feel a sanctified presence of Lord Krishna as the verandah above the Garbhagriha which is made up of marble is said to have generated impressions of the lord.
