The Bara Imambara opens through two large doorways, which are flanked by the grand Asafi Mosque on one side, and a large baori on the other. The Bhul Bhulaiya is a complex, confusing narrow passageway snaking its way inside the upper floor which eventually leads the visitor to the rooftop. The exterior of the monument is adorned with Quranic verses which have been written in calligraphy on the walls of the building. Baroque carvings and exquisite calligraphy make the Chota Imambara one of the most exciting places to visit in Lucknow.

The five entryways of the Chhota Imambara are dedicated to ‘Panjetan’ or the holy five. The Imambara houses two halls and a Shehnasheen.
