The 57 feet tall statue of Lord Bahubali is also popular for the head anointing ceremony called Mahamastakabhisheka held once in 12 years. The erotic sculpture of Gomateshwara is bathed in milk, curds, ghee, saffron and sugar cane juice.

Local legends state that Chandragupta Maurya had died in this place after he became a Jain monk.

The Sanctum has the alluring 6 feet high idol of Lord Vijayanarayana or Kesava standing on a 3 feet high base. Narasimha pillar with erotic miniature figures and Mohini Pillar with carvings of Brahma, Shiva and the ten avatars of Vishnu, are the most distinguished pillars among the others.
