1. Dargah Sharif, Ajmer

Emperor Akbar and his queen used to come here by foot on pilgrimage from Agra every year in observance of a vow when he prayed for a son.

2. Adhai din ka Jhonpra

The next site of your one day tour is a great spectacle of Indo – Islamic architecture, located near the Dargah Sharif and consisting of a quadrangle cloistered on all four sides- Adhai Din Ka Jhopra. The inside of the building has a front screen wall of seven pointed arches. It was a place of worship for the Hindus and Jains before a mosque was built out of the temple ruins.

The interior of the mosque is more like a Hindu temple, with the main hall supported by numerous columns. Three pillars are placed over each other while the roof is supported on square bays. The columns have a unique design and are heavily decorated which leave the visitor enchanted.

Although the original pillars and the roof of the pre-Muslim structure were allowed to remain, many of the original carvings were defaced by the conquerors. Adhai din ka Jhopra serves as a perfect example of an intermingling of many religions and cultures, with the main gate having inscriptions in Sanskrit. You’ll certainly stand in awe!

3. Nasiyan Temple and Ana Sagar Lake

It was built by Rai Bahadur Seth Moolchand and Nemichand Soni and was dedicated to Lord Rishabhdev in 1864.

4. Pushkar Lake
